Moumee won

August 28, 2009

medalMoumee won hands down; she hissed, she clawed, even snarled. Dr. Murrey called her names, put a towel on her head and even tried to give her the injection through the holes in her carry box, but she won. There was no vaccine for Moumee today. We then dropped her off at friend’s for cat sitting where she continued to hiss and snarl. Maybe she is letting out all her frustration over the baby clothes incidences.

Montana panted, paced and got everyone in there to pet her, but once she hit the table she took it well. She got her shots and a miny exam with no fuss.

Me…I put up a tiny fuss got F’s hand to hold, but it was nothing. That RH shot didn’t hurt a bit and it was the student doctor that gave it to me.

The baby got a check up too and it looks good. Junior’s heart rate is good and head is down. I had always imagined it swimming breaststroke in there, but apparently it is head down, bum up and slightly squished. My belly is the right size and no diabetes.

Now onto the Rockies! We have four days there for hiking, swimming and wildlifing and then will head onto Edmonton where we will see F’s family and attend her cousin’s wedding.

One more day

August 26, 2009

Stress + pregnancy+ my stomach= tummy pain. I don’t know what Homer’s excuse is, but this is about how I feel.

Work is hard right now.  Our department is dealing with two really really difficult issues. As soon as stress hits me now, even if I don’t feel especially stressed, my tummy does. It happened before when I was taking the professional certification exam and moving at the same time. I end up being awake a lot of the night with stomach pain eating tums. My doctor gave me some other pills that really do wonders at making it better.

Tomorrow is a doozy of day and then I start vacation.  I can’t wait to call it done!

Who is due for shots?

August 23, 2009
All three of us!

All three of us!

Next friday we are all booked. Moumee gets indoor cat shots, Miss Montana gets doggie shots and I get something or another because I am RH-. That something or another I am getting is intramuscular. eeeeya! I got to skip the PIO shots during IVF, but that get out of jail card has run out.

The question is…who is going to create the most fuss?

Miss Montana who is a ’scaredy cat’ dog?

Mad Moumee who has been known to growl, hiss and expel fur at the vet?

Me. The girl who prefers to have a little ativan before appointments and still has been known to clutch and sob on a nurse’s shoulder?

Hmmmm….what a cast of characters. Why is the dog a scaredy cat and the cat a growler. What kind of weird family are we?

I will give a full report on all the goings-on on Friday.

Panty peace

August 17, 2009

A few weeks ago I went to the maternity store in search of another pair of shorts. They didn’t have any left, but I left with a shirt, 3 pairs of panties and heaps of recommendations for other products that would cure all the many kinds of pregnancy/breastfeeding ailments that apparently are coming my way.  It was one of the scarier retail experiences I have had. Tales of waking up in puddles of breast milk if I didn’t buy the right pads, stories of cracked bleeding nipples, discussion of how big my thighs would get and more if you can believe it. Yikes!

Anyway, the only reason I bought the maternity panties was because I needed underwear and didn’t want to go to another store. It was laziness. I have low rise anyway and  I figured that everything could grow around them.  They sounded like an unnecessary gimmick.

Then I wore them…ohh lala they are comfortable and the bigger I get the more I love them.

batgirlI started saving those three pairs for special days when I needed to be extra comfortable. They became a rationed product in my drawers. Today I drew the line. I have grown around the low rise panties, but they still have a waist band and it squishes me. Luckily panties are not a seasonal item, like shorts, and the store had more. I bought three more pairs of power panties. I can do anything in them including leap tall buildings with a single bound. They don’t even look bad. This is the life. No more waist bands. I even ran around the house in them.  Right now there is nothing else that costs 26$ that could have made me that happy.

The rain made us do it

August 14, 2009

p80293-Whistler-Cheakamus_LakeWe were going to go camping this weekend as our last camping trip of the summer and our last camping trip with just the two of us, but it rained. The only few days it has rained in what seems like forever. Instead we booked into a boutique hotel where there are tons of hiking trails. I negotiated a deal and got us a a free room upgrade and free parking. The upgrade included a large jacuzzi tub in the room.  A little more spendy than a tent, but really freak’n nice. I love negotiating hotel deals.

We went hiking in one of my favorite spots and I made it all the way to the lake. It was a about 4 km round trip. We even saw a young bear on the drive out on the logging road. CH if you are reading this, yes we did go to the famous bear show down spot. This is where many years ago a mama bear with her two cubs backed us into the lake and blocked our way back onto the trail. We ended up hiking in the beautiful turquoise glacial water freezing lake until we reached another beach and trail access area. What an adventure. I have seen many bears in this park and except that one time we have both looked at each other and gone the other way.

The next day we walked around another lake and saw a toad migration. Tons of toads all crossing the trail to get from the lake to the forest. They even built the toads a special bridge.

This weekend I am just hitting that awkward stage where I hate tieing up my shoes and bending over. I have also noticed that someone has lowered all the toilets that I use. I don’t why someone would go to all that trouble, but they did and now they are lower and harder to get off.

Watch out babee!

August 11, 2009

The story is that her mom ate a lot of seafood while she was pregnant and a crab pinched F’s leg while she was in her mom’s tummy. That is why she has a small birth mark on her leg. Yesterday what did I do? I ate lobster. Yummy! The only glitch is that lobsters pinch even harder than crabs. Ok babee, you might have birth spot just like your mama F! No big deal. She came out all right.

While I ate lobster F ate a generous serving of prime rib. That is good. At first I thought that being the non pusher in this birthing process meant a lot of hand holding and brow mopping. I peaked ahead in the prenatal manual and I realized that there is a lot of stuff  she is gonna have to do; walking, rocking, massaging and the list goes on and on. I think a few more generous servings of beef will help fortify her for the task ahead.
