Icecream time

Bee has been on the healthy living program until this week. I figured there would be a moment where it would make sense to give her some of the sweeter things in life. Having icecream together as a family listening to live music in PEI was the moment.

Travelling toddler times

Woweee. We started this trip by getting up at 3 30 am to catch a 6am flight. Two planes and 7 hours of flying later we arrived in pei.

Now we start our adventures travelling on toddler time. F’s mom is with us as well. It is funny to look back and realize just over a year ago we were backpacking on a month long trip through cuba. She slept with us, nursed nonstop and napped in the stroller or carrier. Now she is in the middle of toilet training, has a new tooth coming, says no and needs to put on her own shoes or take them off depending on how she feels at that moment. Yesterday we danced to live music, she had icecream for the first time and we watched bees pollinate flowers. She also peed in a public toilet for the first time at the anne of green gables house. She got her picture taken with anne and diana with her potty seat. What a different travel experience. The thing that is the same is nursing. There is nothing like travel to bring on a nursing revival. By the end of this trip I will be making enough milk to feed all the babies in eastern canada.

Before we left we thought and discussed endlessly about what to bring for her to sleep in. Bee is a superduper light sleeper, cosleeping doesnt work for us anymore, she has a reputation for not sleeping while travelling, we will be sharing a room and we want to avoid extra luggage charges at the airport. In the end this is what is working for us; phil and teds travel crib, emergency space blankets held up with painters tape to cover windows and a white noise machine or noisy fan. Each night she has slept a little better and last night,  our fourth night, she finally slept through the night.

I am so grateful to be travelling again. Travel is in my heart and soul. I also think the toddler time has to one of the more challenging ages for travel and sometimes i find myself searching for more patience.  However after a few days and some better sleep we are finding our travel groove for this PEI, NS adventure.  We will see eastern canada and i will be a bridesmaid in a fantastic purple dress that i never imagined in my wildest dreams that i would be excited about wearing. I am not the kind of girl that wears purple or dresses :O
